Gravity [6] is a highly detailed action thriller set in Earth's orbit. Starting with a what should be a routine Hubble Space Telescope repair, the mission ends as events threaten the shuttle and astronauts. The movie spins the lead characters, of which there are two, through a series of attempts to survive in orbit while seeking a way back to Earth.
Why should you watch it?
While Academy Awards (they won 7) aren’t always linked to scientific accuracy, Gravity has received rave reviews from those with direct experience in space, including astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Garrett Reisman, for the zero gravity scenes. While some of the film details are not scientifically accurate and the director, Alfonso Cuaron, admits some liberties were required for the plot, it is considered a wonderful representation of movement in space. For that alone, Gravity is worth watching.
